A highlight of Formex is the Young Designers section, where designers at the very start of their careers bring their fresh perspectives and approaches.
One who stood out to me was Camilla Edfors and her graphic patterned cushions in shifting hues of red, blue, and black. To make the patterns match perfectly at the seams, the pattern on the back is mirrored rather than continued. It's this attention to detail that helps make the cushions so striking.
Another perk of visiting designers in this section of the fair is that it's easy to get caught up in their excitement. Business was going well for Camilla this day. She'd just taken an order from a buyer for Denmark's Louisiana Museum of Modern Art gift shop. Quite a coup for any artist their first time out.
