This is a big week for Swedes everywhere, especially those in Stockholm.
On Saturday crown princess Victoria marries Daniel Westling, a “normal guy” from a small town in Sweden. It’s a little bit Cinderella in a gender ignored Swedish kind of way. The special training he’s needed to take on the role is pretty impressive, you can read all about it here.
Swedish crown princess Victoria & soon-to-be prince Daniel.
Right now, Love Stockholm 2010, a two-week party and series of events to celebrate the marriage is in full swing, culminating with the royal wedding on June 19th.
Swedish or not, I know you can’t resist all the pageantry and fanfare of a real life princess wedding, so watch it live on SVT Play Saturday starting at 1pm Swedish time (7am NY, 4am LA).
Of course I’m drawn to the pretty bits, so was pleased to get a sneak peek of the official wedding series of tabletop accessories approved by the Royal Court, released at Formex.

table settings from gustavsbergs porcelain factory and trays, coasters etc from opto design.
silver cutlery from mema/gab.
tea and dessert settings from Rörstrand.
pewter serving tray and little frog place card holders from svenskt tenn.
wedding cake from frödinge.
drinks from kivik’s musteri and textile products from ekelund weavers.

even Sweden’s early summer flowers got the official wedding series seal.
These items are all on sale right now to the public in limited quantities. Proceeds from the sales go to the Crown Princess Couple’s Wedding Foundation which has been set up to promote good health and combat exclusion among children and young people in Sweden.
