FULO is another designer (or rather, design duo) that left their mark on me in February, who I was happy to see make it to Milan.

These drawer sets called Oblique are a mix-and-match fetishist’s dream, being stackable any which way you choose and throwing drawers out in every direction. Why – well, because you can.

According to designers Olof Nordenson and Ulf Nilsson Jevin, the playful assortment of drawers were were actually inspired by the bored and inquisitive childhood hunt for secret compartments at grandma’s house.
“Surely, I had searched for the same ones many times before, but there was always a feeling of satisfaction when I found them. It felt like only I knew about them, and the pieces of furniture became more than only a means of storage or parts of the room interior,” they explained.
Oblique becomes more than just storage too. With each box having the ability to sit in eight different directions… play, surprise, and individuality are all part of the equation.
I think it’s best demonstrated in this video below from FULO, posted by the always inspiring designboom.
