The legendary design collective’s work is intended to catch the eye, to stand out from the everyday and to confidently claim a stake in the world of Swedish independent design.

10 Swedish Designers, known in their native country as “10 Gruppen” – “The group of 10″, was started in 1970 by a band of design graduates. Their work had been rejected by the Swedish textile industry of the time, their patterns labeled “unsaleable”, “too advanced” and “non-commercial”.

Birgitta Hahn, Ingela Håkansson, Tom Hedquist and their friends decided to take matters into their own hands and launch a company where they would retain complete creative, marketing and commercial control of their work.

Thirty-nine successful years later, and 10 Swedish Designers is stronger than ever.

Over the years they have created patterns for IKEA, Duro, Svenskt Tenn, Borås Cotton, Orrefors/Kosta Boda, and many others. Their talents have been translated into interior design, wallpaper, rugs, theatrical costumes, restaurant design, clothes of every kind, advertising campaigns and books.

Their work has been represented in museums around the world, and can be seen in homes and hanging off the shoulders of urban dwellers in coffee shops all over Sweden.
