Lisa Bengtsson is from Gnosjö in Southern Sweden. She rose to fame in Sweden and internationally with her whimsical line of wallpapers. Her most popular, Familjen (The Family), features empty picture frames inviting people to fill them in with their own treasures.

In February, Lisa won the Elle Interiör “Shooting Star” design award. And at the end of April she launched her collection of plates themed “Between Us Women” at Milan Design Week ‘09.

Lisa loves old pictures, second hand bargains, and anything she can find in her grandmother’s drawers. With her background in graphic design, she creates contemporary patterns mixed with nostalgia so that every piece has a sense of history.

Of her collection “Between Us Women,” she says:

“My grandmother had plates that she collected in her home and I’ve always loved them. This collection celebrates the women in our families. They offer us warmth, security, and a sense of belonging.”

Each plate has character of its own, offering a unique story and perspective, complete with an inscription on the back (in Swedish).
