Bursting with bright colors and classic Scandinavian style, Lotta Odelius’ designs capture just what we love about Swedish design.

The simple refined patterns – timeless and contemporary – have a joyful energy to them. For Lotta, pleasure plays as important a part in creating her designs as it does in using them.

“Pattern design is playful and fun, but nonetheless a pleasant form of serious business,” she says.

Lotta was inspired by the common motifs of the 1950’s… leaves, fruits, flowers and geometric patterns with dots and lines. Capturing the spirit of gardening was especially important to her, invoking the pleasure that comes with watching the food you eat sprout and grow.

It’s perhaps not surprising that Lotta has a background in graphic design and art direction. She worked in advertising for ten years after starting out as a freelance illustrator in Stockholm at the tender age of 15.

“I can only hope that my work and my designs bring as much joy to you as they brought to me when I was creating them.”
