How better to indulge in the natural abundance and long days of summer than with fresh veg from the garden and parties with friends?

Those are the themes of this month’s designs from Tina Backman. Her graphic illustrations retain all the charm of hand drawn art, and her kitchen collection makes a delightful accompaniment to everything nice this season.

We discovered Tina recently in the Young Designer corner of Formex, a twice yearly market for Nordic design. But she’s been honing her craft since long before then.

Tina attended both Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London and Stockholm’s Konstfack University of Arts & Crafts. Since graduating she’s designed artwork for a broad range of institutions prominent in Sweden’s arts and culture scene, and has had her illustrations published in at least four design books.

Today she designs from her childhood hometown of Örebro in central Sweden. Her first line of cards and home accessories launched this year with a distinctive and whimsical illustration style that makes them hard to resist and uniquely Tina Backman.
