It would be easy to imagine you’d wandered down a rabbit hole and landed in another place and time, part Alice in Wonderland and part Grandmother’s scrapbook. One step inside Lisa Bengtsson’s studio and there’s no mistaking it, this is Lisa’s world.

Just getting to Lisa’s studio is part of the adventure. An arch opens up between buildings along a busy street, drawing you down several flights of stairs until you arrive on another street running perpendicular to the first. It’s quiet here, worlds away from the hectic intersection above.

Over the past couple of years Lisa has made a name for herself, garnering the adoration of the local design scene (she even has her own blog on the Elle Interiör website, visit here!) and international attention. You may have even already seen her Familjen “The Family” wallpaper.

Lisa says her biggest inspiration comes from people, their behaviors and how they live or used to live their lives.
You can see the traces of this in the items she keeps near and the patterns found everywhere in her studio.

In the plate collection Oss kvinnor emellan, “Between Us Women,” Lisa set out to explore what is becoming a common theme for her. That of “family.”
According to Lisa:
“The family is a unique and interesting concept in the modern world in th erespect that we are born into a specific position that we cannot choose or change. However by discovering our roots and knowing where we have come from we can gain a great deal of insight into who we are, and why we look and act as we do. The family is largely accepted as the established structure of our society. It offers us warmth, security and a sense of belonging.”
It was important to Lisa in this collection to put particular emphasis on the relationships of the new members of the extended family such as step-mother and step-children.
